    About Habitat for Humanity Greater
    San Francisco

Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco builds and sustains affordable homeownership opportunities for families in Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo counties. With the support of community and public investment, we provide a fantastic opportunity for local families: a home at zero-down payment, zero percent interest, and a 30-year mortgage with monthly payments set at no more than 30 percent of their household income. First-time homebuyers put in 500 hours of “sweat equity” to build their future homes and the homes of their neighbors. With no interest on their mortgage, families start saving as homeowners from day one in their Habitat home. Habitat has provided homeownership opportunities for more than 248 local families, and we remain the only provider of affordable homeownership opportunities in Marin, San Francisco and San Mateo counties that serve households in the 40%-80% area median income range (AMI).
